There aren’t many high-quality fashion events in Israel, and in my opinion only two make the cut – Gindy Fashion Week and the seasonal fashion show by the fashion retailer Castro.
Like many previous ones, Castro’s Spring-Summer 2015 runway show was a glamorous event on an international level, from every aspect – from the meticulous production (Motti Raif doesn’t disappoint) to the audience – this is the one event you can be sure to spot Israel’s crème-de-la-crème, celebrity and fashion-wise, and all of them dressed to their best ability, investing creativity and thought in their looks. Sometimes, the crowd is more interesting than the looks on the runway, and this time was no exception.
The collection’s main guidelines were minimalism and cleanliness, combined with femininity and fabric softness – a style I very much connect to. Having said that, I didn’t find an innovative statement in anything Castro displayed – but I did enjoy the experience a lot. It’s always fun to see dressed-up people in such high concentration and at 10 am of all hours! Certainly a rare sight in Israel. Additionally, the singer Dikla, who accompanied the runway show with her band, was a great musical choice – music is such an important component at any event.
Whoever was absent from the show (most of the people in Israel) could watch it live online and order items of choice straight from the website. I did see, I must say, a couple of items I’d like to add to my closet – for example, this tricolor, pastel silk blouse and the lace-up shoes, although they didn’t look too comfortable.(see the picture bellow) Anyhow, I’ll wait for the collection to reach the stores – I’m not very good at ordering online.
If you were late to the live translation, and, unlike me, you like ordering online, you can watch the show here and order whatever you like, if you want.
P.S. in the next post I will tell you how I choose what to wear for this special event. The decisions weren’t so much easy:-)
