A new player emerged on the local fashion scene. Not that it didn’t exist before, but it wasn’t very present. Even before I set foot at Golf’s Spring-Summer 2015 event, I was notified that the company is cooking up a makeover, bound to bring it to a new position in the industry. From the conversation I had with Golf’s CEO, it became clear that the strategic change, already evident, is based on a re-organization of all of the company’s facets – from the buyers department to the return and refund process, by international standards.
As of today, Golf had already purchased the Israeli franchise of Topshop, with its 12 branches, and the plan is to open 10 more. Furthermore, all the retailer’s stores will undergo a refurbishing process, and on March 15th, a new concept store will open at the Shiv’at ha-Kochavim mall in Hertzlia.
But despite all that, I arrived at the show with low expectations, and, again, was pleasantly surprised. The production was much smaller than Castro’s, but the simple event was tasteful – and was a big success!
The trendy return to nature and ‘roots’ was the collection’s leading concept, for all of its 3 parts. I really liked the first group – crochet and lacy white dresses, with different shapes and lengths. Their cleanliness and naivety were a throwback to the flower child of the 60s, just the flower crowns were missing
. The second group, featuring fringe and laced-up shoes, was also inspired by the same era
Here, in a liberal fashion not so typical to our country, models showed more skin than ever – which caused some of the front row guests next to me to stop breathing for a second. I was breathless too.
Personally, I would love to adopt many of the items displayed on the runway – luckily, they weren’t for sale just yet, as I’d be torn until now as for what to pick and what to skip. Having said that, the show’s item will hit the stores eventually – unlike other fashion retailer that create a runway collection which has nothing to do with real life, what was showed is what’s going to be in the stores.
I’ll be waiting patiently, because the clothes look great and what’s more, they’re reasonably priced! Very tempting…
I must have one of the white dressed – I’m sure you’ll agree.
I hope you enjoyed,
P.S. and about my look we will talk in my next post
